Shining Star Pendant 36mm

Shining Star Pendant 36mm

Niemeyer was a Brazilian architect “in love” with his profession, and this is clear in his life’s work, with beautiful free-flowing shapes. One of his quotes demonstrates this: “It was the drawing that led me to Architecture, the search for light and astonishing forms.

The Shining Star” Pendant celebrates beauty in Architecture inspired by one of its most interesting Icons – the Brasília Cathedral – drawn by architect Oscar Niemeyer, with a shape as if it was floating in the air. As Sir Norman Foster once mentioned, the Brasília Cathedral stands as a “dancer in absolute balance” where it feels like there is no gravity holding its structure, where it's totally free.

The Shining Star” Pendant is made of silver 925, with a polished finish. It has a diameter of 36mm and an approximate weight of 15,00g, in silver certified by "Casa da Moeda", under the License Number T1795, the main official entity that guarantees the quality and authenticity of your Jewels.

Inspired by Brasília Cathedral Brasília Cathedral

The Shining Star” Pendant was inspired by Iconic Architecture, by the Brasília Cathedral, drawn by Oscar Niemeyer. Its structure has 16 arches designed in an unique hyperbolic shape holding beautiful coloured stained glasses, almost standing still in plain air. The Brasília Cathedral itself and the space surrounding it has a special aura, being mentioned by many as “out of this world”. The lightness of the structure in Brasília Cathedral was achieved by reducing the size of the pillars and because the bases of these pillars were designed in a thin shape, causing the sensation that it is “floating”. This “weightlessness” can be seen also on the top of the structure where the 16 arches touch, in mid-air, with no support from the ground, simply “holding each other” and connecting to a circle concrete slab.

3D Printing Technology

How we produce your Jewels

On a first stage, its design was produced with a sketch inspired by Brasília Cathedral, drawn by architect Oscar Niemeyer. A second stage followed using 3D Modeling with a specific parametric 3D design software – Fusion and AutoCAD – that was applied together with the 3D Printing Technology on a Formlabs 3D Printer producing a castable wax resin piece. On a third stage, this resin piece was handed over to a Jewellery Workshop, to the work of a certified traditional goldsmith that transformed it into a precious silver Jewel. These three steps were carefully executed and monitored with a special attention to every detail, so that the result would be a unique Jewel with a special meaning and top quality.

Brasília Cathedral

The Brasília Cathedral, by Oscar Niemeyer symbolizes two hands moving towards the Sky. The 16 arches represent the hands praying and “addressing” the Sacred. In all Civilizations, the hands symbol holds a special meaning. The hands “addressing” the Sky represent the praying hands, the “call for the Sacred”, which makes perfect sense in the Brasília Cathedral, a space of meditation and worship.
